Sports Premium
Primary School Funding
Funding will be allocated to all maintained and state-funded schools with primary aged pupils, including: primary, middle, special and non-maintained special schools, academies and pupil referral.
Schools are free to determine how best to use this funding to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sports provision, including increasing participation in PE and sport so that all pupils develop healthier lifestyles.
Funding:
Financial support for schools will be calculated according to the number of pupils (between the ages of 5-11) in school. This funding will be used solely for the purpose of PE and sport. The Department for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport recommended initial guidance lines, see as follows:
Possible uses for the funding might include:
- hiring specialist PE teachers or qualified sports coaches to work with primary teachers during PE Lessons
- supporting and engaging the least active children through new or additional Change4Life clubs
- supporting training opportunities for teachers in PE and sport
- providing additional teachers to release primary teachers for training in PE and sport
- running sport competitions, or increasing pupils’ participation in school games
- buying materials for PE and sport
- providing places for pupils at after school sports clubs and holiday clubs
- pooling the additional funding with that of other local schools.
Wellington Primary School - Vision
Wellington Primary School’s philosophy combines physical learning, health and cognitive thinking across all key stages.
We believe that PE and sport play a key role in personal development and that every child should be provided with opportunities to participate in a wide range of sporting and physical instruction.
Using our grant we intend to support a range of activities – endeavouring to develop physical confidence and support learning that will enhance children’s skills and encourage health and fitness.
Wellington Primary School pupils will have the chance to compete in sports and other activities, this will encourage fairness, values, responsibility and respect. Positive social skills and character building is essential for our pupil’s to develop. At Wellington Primary School, the ability of our pupil’s to communicate and to collaborate in various sporting environments can expand their understanding of their own ability. This expansion of knowledge and experience will aid each child to measure and identify their progression in different sporting and physical activities.
Wellington Primary School will receive a total of £16,490 per annum. Our Sports Premium Plan can be viewed below.
The money will be used to maintain and expand the physical and psychological needs of each individual child. We will work together to support pupils, parents and staff in a holistic way to ensure strong bonds are formed and full potentials reached. PE and sport is important and valued at Wellington Primary School and this funding will help us to enhance and sustain current and future progression.
