Art
Art teaching at Wellington instils an appreciation and enjoyment of Art. Art stimulates imagination and creativity, involving children in a range of visual, tactile and sensory experiences, which enable them to communicate what they see, think and feel through the use of the elements of colour, texture, form and pattern. At Wellington, Art promotes careful observation and an appreciation of the world around us. Furthermore, Art and Design provides the children with the opportunities to develop and extend their skills and an opportunity to express their individual interests, thoughts and ideas.
Art, craft and design embody some of the highest forms of human creativity. Our high-quality Art and Design curriculum aims to engage, inspire and challenge our pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. As pupils progress, they should be able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of art and design. They should also know how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.
